Register for a Workshop

"Your journey starts by choosing a DONA Approved Birth Doula Training Workshop. These high-quality workshops all meet DONA International’s highest professional standards,  which means you’ll be learning the skills you really need to provide excellent service to every family you support.

In your birth doula training you can expect to learn not only the how to doula, but also the why we doula.

Workshops cover evidence-based information about the benefits of doula support, the history of birth, the significance of doula support to families, practical hands- on techniques, as well as the steps to begin a career as a birth doula."

-DONA International

You'll receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of your workshop; most volunteer programs, internships, and hospital admission requirements accept this as proof of being a trained birth doula.

Start Reading

You'll receive a DONA International Birth Doula Manual before the start of your workshop, a cost included in your tuition.

In addition to this, you need to obtain and read

The Birth Partner 5th Edition : A Complete Guide to Childbirth for Dads, Partners, Doulas, and All Other Labor Companions

by Penny Simkin

Of course there is an abundance of tremendous literature on the topic!  If you are certifying as a birth doula through DONA International, you will be given a required reading list.  If you'd like to view this and get started prior to your workshop, see here
